Dreamweaver
The Chippewa tribe believes that Asibikaashi, the spider woman, protects children from bad dreams at night by weaving dream catchers to hang above their heads while they sleep. In Dreamweaver, she teaches Namid, a scared eight year old Chippewa girl who suffers from nightmares, to overcome her fears.

In fall 2015 Katherine Ryschkewitsch and Erich Schulz came into the UCF character animation specialization with their minds set on establishing connections with other artists and creating something beautiful. After the first semester with the vision set and the story prepared they set out with a talented team of 10 to create Dreamweaver from the ground up. From pitch to concept and asset creation to animation, Katherine and Erich, along with their faculty director, Cheryl Briggs, were able to guide and shepherd Dreamweaver to its completion by April 2017. With the premiere of the film being a ravishing success among faculty and audience members, Katherine and Erich are now setting their sights on festivals to screen Dreamweaver while continually seeking knowledge and connections for future education and opportunities.
The intent of Dreamweaver from the beginning was to create a cute and intimate story about the family bond between two characters that would work together to solve a problem. We wanted to really push the art direction with breathtaking and jaw dropping color palettes coupled with contrast and visual motif. From the very beginning we loved the idea of incorporating the colors of the northern lights and the night sky and we based almost our whole film off those hues. The film is also effects heavy, which helped push the look we were going for and helped us bring the blissful dream-scape to life. The animation team was very meticulous and worked to give each character their own unique mannerisms.
