Experiencing Interruptions?

Tomato Soup

The Tomato Soup is a sensitive and nuanced work that explores the realm of the everyday. Despite more or less serious drama in the background – the rhythm of life is still present.
Being away from home provides me with a different yet very nostalgic way of seeing it. Tomato Soup captures my feeling of homesickness.
My grandparents are still unaware of the record button in my camera...

Director Statement

I set off seeking for light and photography is the best tool to find it.

Relationship to my home country – Poland – is something that fascinates me, as only when
I live far away I want to go back and capture the life that is not changed.
Poland is for me very safe place, as I have never experienced the reality of adult life and problems over there. Childhood memories are causing my nostalgia.
The point of view is not from the insider and not from outsider either. I’m someone in between, someone who only comes back for few days a year and record the banal of everyday life.
I am longing for belonging. I capture places I used to be part of.

Trying to find a beauty in Eastern Europe’s ugliness is one of my photography goals.

I am not one of those who look at the darkness with no fear.

Through my work I aim to express emotions I feel in a certain moment.
My photographs are not planed, like we cannot plan feelings.

I believe in photography and aesthetic impact.

I would like the viewer not only to have a look but also to see something and feel something. That „something” is personal and I can’t describe what I want you to get out of my works. Every person expresses something else and that’s the magic of us all.

I work with light and colour.
I work with their absence.
