My name is Tinna and MUNDA is my second short film. I´m an Icelandic director and producer both in theater and films. I´m also a two time Edda Awards nominated actress, I hold a MBA degree from Reykjavik University, run my own independent theater company, Háaloftid, and film production company, Freyja Filmwork, that focuses on producing film projects where women are in key roles.
MUNDA is written, directed, produced and told by women in films. It's a part of the Doris film project that started in Sweden: http://www.dorisfilm.se
The purpose of the Doris Film project is to change attitudes and structures towards gender equality in the film industry worldwide and provide a visual contribution to the ongoing public debate by creating films where women hold all the key roles both behind and in front of the camera.
WIFT (Women in films and television) in Iceland launched a Doris film script competition on May 1st ,2014 and received 102 submissions. 11 scripts were selected by a jury composed by Iceland’s most respected film producers, writers and directors, for further development. Then on the 1st of December 2015 finally five projects were selected to go in to production and the script of MUNDA was one of them.
In May 2016 Tinna Hrafnsdóttir the director and producer of MUNDA won the annual Short TV pitch contest in Cannes just by intoducing the idea of the film and the trailer from her first short film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7iMH8jcKw0
At that time the script was called Katharsis but later in the production process the film got the title MUNDA wich refers to the name of the main character in the film.
