Matt Gold is a comedic writer, director and performer with stage work featured all across Chicago. He has produced several sold out sketch comedy shows at The Second City, including Critically Ashamed, In Your Mildest Dreams and Lesser Known History. In 2017, Matt transferred his love of joke telling from stage to screen when he joined the Harold Ramis Film School, the world’s first film school dedicated entirely to comedy. Working with a variety of accomplished writers, directors, producers and actors, Matt has grown his body of work to encompass sketch, short film, web series, sitcom and feature film screenplays.
In January of 2017, I directed, wrote and performed in a sketch comedy show at The Second City titled "Lesser Known History" where we comedically explored a variety of moments over the course of time. There was one clear favorite: Post Game with Jesus. People reacted strongly to the clash of context using religion and sports, and maybe not surprisingly, the two ideas not very different from each other. The script was never designed to have commentary on religion or Christianity, but rather find a world that everyone, regardless of viewpoints, can laugh together about. This script was rewritten from stage to screen to add a few more visual jokes. There's no lesson to be learned, just to sit back, relax and laugh. Enjoy!
