Early Sunday Morning
Woke to a Familiar sound
Working on his Harley
My daddy sitting on the ground
Little brother jumped on first
It was the first time I had cursed
Dad looked at me and smiled
"you know you'll get your turn"
Later in my twenties
Another woman out the door
I called my dad and asked him
Is this worth fighting for?
Don't worry about it son
Soon there will be another one
But what do you say
it's a beautiful day, let's go ride
Let's ride
Sometimes you rise
And baby sometimes you fall
But nothing can be that bad
How do you think I've come this far
Without going dog gone mad?
Things they will break
And baby life it will shake
But this position's next to none
With you by my side
I've already won

Playing guitar since his high school days, James has played all over America as a bass player (unsigned) with many different bands. His time spent with Merle Haggard's guitarist/ songwriter Tim Howard taught James how to write lyrics and compose, but he was reluctant to release any of his material for twenty years.
Then three days ago he had a dream about his dad and heard this song in his dream... he immediately got up and worked on the song until it was finished and hastily recorded it for a gift for his dad who is very sick. Then after his dad received it with tears in his eyes, some of James' professional musician friends convinced him to offer it for submission.
Here's to you dad. My hero.
