Art of feedback


Everyone who is into design, advertising or any type of creative work regularly encounters clients’ feedback. Sometimes it seems as if clients and creatives do not speak the same language. Can their cooperation result in success without them really understanding each other?

Creatives from different Croatian advertising agencies have anonymously sent us their clients’ most interesting examples of feedback. The words have been brought to life by actors’ in order to emphasize the ambiguity of feedback and the clumsiness which can occur when clients and creatives try to understand each other.

Why is this subject so important for this cooperation? Feedback occurs as a reaction to a product or as an attempt to make the product better and guide it in the right direction in order to achieve certain goals. It is an essential process for both the client and the creatives and the goal of every project depends on its quality and accuracy. Misunderstandings and poor quality feedback can both refute the potentially successful output and leave both sides frustrated and unsatisfied.

The prerequisite for every successful relationship is acknowledging each other’s starting points and figuring out each other’s motives, wishes, needs, and goals. Mutual trust is the key to successful partnerships. The purpose of The Art of Feedback is to encourage both sides to try and make this relationship more constructive and successful.

Director Biography - Vanja Blumenšajn, Jurica Ćorluka

Insisting on excellence since 1979. Over a decade in advertising. Contributed to the leading Croatian advertising festival for over 10 years as a Jury Member, twice as President. Won nearly all domestic advertising awards and a decent number of foreign ones (Festo, Ideja X, Effie, ADCC, ADCE, Red Dot, Golden Drum, Eurobest, Cropak, MIXX, Regpak, Outward, MIAF, SEMPL…). Was voted Creative of the Year, Copywriter of the Year (Sudnji dan and Ideja X festivals) and one of the best Croatian creatives of the decade (Media Marketing magazine). In 2013 he established a branding and communications agency Señor - where he continues to excel in work and dreams. Especially dreams. This is his directorial debut.
