SUGAR
Embark on a blast to the past in this burlesque inspired short film. Through prissy smiles, obnoxious laughter and delectable pot roasts, come enjoy the reality that is the suburban diner party. Set in the 1950s, the protagonist (Sugar) shares a performance in both conflicting realities. Amidst the flaky and fake, she will strip away (quite literally) from their repressed sentiments.

French Canadian showrunner and director Joshua Maheu had his first notable directorial debut in 2017. Since winning his first award at the North American Film Awards for his short film “Sugar" (2017), he has worked on multiple projects ranging from period dramas (L'Arpège (2019)) to documentaries (i.e. Suburgatory (2017), Frames (2016)) having yet to run through the festival circuit.
He initiated a first interest in the world of web series in 2018 with his upcoming piece "S.u.g.a.r.". A series inspired by his previous short film. It is set to launch in late 2019.
In February 2016, Joshua interned on set for Byran Singer's XMEN : Apocalypse in his hometown of Montreal where he had the chance to expand his practical knowledge and skills relating to the field.
