ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a multidisciplinary artist studying at OCADU. I am excited by the exponential progression of technology, and the unexplored potential it brings to art as we know it. I work in many mediums, but interactive art, specifically video game development, is my governing field of interest. I love nature and people, and I love the effect of organic subject matter in digital mediums. I deconstruct conventions and explore more abstract themes on my path to creating and presenting thoughtful, artistically driven, independent games and other digital works.
This short film is about the toil of existence made more palatable using the literary trope of anthropomorphized animals! The title makes reference to the selective killing of wild animals, but also to the game programming term of the same name, in which all that appears outside of the camera’s current frame are programmatically not rendered. This neatly unifies the literal deaths of the animals, the direness of the personal struggle, and the fact that it’s an intensely personal experience that occurs within the frame of an individual’s own existence.
