The Kurdish Film Festival Berlin has been founded in 2002 and celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020. Over the years, the cultural event has established itself in the Berlin festival scene and is now known also beyond the Kurdish community, among Berlin cinema lovers and the general public.
In its uniqueness, the festival is the oldest and largest event on Kurdish film in Europe. The program consists of short films, documentaries and feature films. Works by filmmakers from the four parts of Kurdistan - Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria - and the Diaspora are presented, as well as striking works by European filmmakers about Kurds.
