We’re looking for films that have to do with water in Texas. The rest is up to you. The purpose of the Water, Texas film festival is to give filmmakers the creative flexibility to communicate their stories about water. We aim to inspire the creation of diverse, informative, unique, funny, and thought-provoking films. We want to invite all Texans to understand the value of their water. What better way to do that than asking folks to share their own stories? Submissions close February 21, 2025.
On April 1, 2025, three winners and a select Under 18 Category winner will be invited to showcase their films in Austin, TX at the Austin Film Society Cinema.
The Water, Texas Film Festival is hosted by Texas Water Foundation, an Austin based 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Texas Water Foundation is working to lead Texas into a sustainable water future by investing in the next generation of water leaders, equipping decision makers, and inviting every Texan to recognize that Texas Runs on Water.
All finalists will be judged by award winning director, Texas native, and Texas Water Foundation Board Member, Richard Linklater.
