What makes "100 Screenplays" different? It begins with how "100 Screenplays" was created. Screenplay Festival, the parent company of 100 Screenplays, accepts an unlimited number of scripts just as all other screenwriting competitions do. A direct effect of accepting so many screenplays is that it takes several months to determine the winner.

One of the judges for Screenplay Festival had an idea, “What if we had a contest where we limited the number of entries to one hundred? We could read the scripts quickly and select the winner announced lightning fast.” The idea grew into "100 Screenplays."

Now, instead of sending off their script and having to wait several months to hear the results, screenwriters can send in their scripts and find out who won within a month of the final deadline. And writers do not have to wonder how many scripts they are up against. (This is one of the most common questions Screenplay Festival receives.)

100 Screenplays accepts scripts of any length: feature film, short film, TV pilot or spec script. Our aim is to discover talented writers and give them an opportunity to show their work.

Each screenplay contest at 100 Screenplays has a First Prize Winner, a Second Prize Winner, and a Third Prize Winner. These winners are selected based solely upon the quality of each screenplay, and are awarded regardless of genre or subject matter.

100 Screenplays features the following Prizes:

- The First Prize Winner of each 100 Screenplays contest will receive a $500.00 cash prize.

- InkTip
The Top Three prize winners will receive the following prizes from sponsor InkTip.com.
An e-mail announcement about their winning screenplay to approximately 6,500 industry professionals. Placement of at least the scripts logline and synopsis on InkTip.com’s password protected web site. Grand Prize winners may also place their treatment and/or script. InkTip.com will include a logline (pitch) for Grand Prize winning screenplays in their printed publication, which is snail-mailed to approximately 5,000 Industry Professionals.

- Virtual Pitch Fest
The First, Second and Third Prize winners receive 3 Pitches on VPF, the platform for TV/Film professionals seeking scripts and writers to represent. With VPF, writers can submit Written Pitches to 500+ networks/studios, producers and agents with the assurance of a guaranteed response. Honorable Mention winners receive 1 Pitch on VPF.

- Live Awards Ceremony
At our live awards ceremony at a theater in Los Angeles, one of our board members announced the winners at a live ceremony in Los Angeles! Every screenwriter who submitted a screenplay is invited to attend for free!

100 Screenplays has established the following rules for the competition:

Standard title page with author information is preferred.

All writers of submitted material must be 18 years or older, including co-authored material.

Screenplays written by teams of two or more writers are eligible for 100 Screenplays. Any award won by a co-authored script will be divided evenly among the writers listed on the entry form.

Screenplays that are currently optioned, or have been sold or produced are not eligible to compete in 100 Screenplays.

Screenplays which have previously won the Grand Prize in a 100 Screenplays contest are not eligible to entered into another 100 Screenplays contest.

Screenplays must be the original work of the author.

Screenplays adapted from other sources that were written by other authors (such as but not limited to books or plays) are not eligible to compete in 100 Screenplays, regardless of the source author’s permission.

Screenplays adapted from other sources by the author of that source are not eligible to compete in 100 Screenplays if the source material has previously optioned, sold or produced.

Submissions of new drafts or corrected pages will not be accepted.
Screenplays must be submitted in English.

A writer may enter more than one screenplay; however, a separate entry form and fee are required for each script submitted.

What an honor it is for my screenplay “Avoidance” to be awarded First Prize in this year’s competition! 100 Screenplays delivers on everything it promises, and as a newbie screenwriter I’m very grateful for that. Such a positive experience is encouraging!
