1. All films being submitted MUST reflect or be inspired by the the American Wild West past or present, Agriculture or the American farmer.
2. All Films submitted must be uploaded or linked to FilmFreeway. Mailed files will not be accepted…NO EXCEPTIONS!
3. All Submissions must give us access to a 1080p downloadable file. Failure to follow this step could result in disqualification after selection. We don't want to hunt you down trying to get a file.
4. All films submitted must be in the English language or subtitled in English.
5. Each filmmaker may only submit one film for each contest category.
6. When submitting a film to the festival, the filmmaker agrees that the film may be used by Wild West Film Festival in whole or in part for festival promotional purposes only.
7. The filmmaker will hold all legal responsibility for all copyrighted material used in their film such as music, story elements, branding etc.
8. Make sure your film has good audio quality. This includes audible dialog and little to no wind noise. Failure to have good audio quality may result in a poor judging score.
9. This is a family event, so please keep the violence and profanity to a minimum. NO EXCESSIVE LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE and NUDITY is allowed. Violations of these rules can lead to film disqualification. Sending us a film with censored language or violence will not affect judging. The filmmaker submitting their film agree’s that The Wild West Film Festival holds sole discretion on what they deem to be accessible violence and/or language. Please email us with any questions about this rule.
10. Due to the time constraints of a busy festival, the documentary and full length feature category may be screened by our panel of judges offsite and may not be played at the festival. However, the award will be presented live at the festival.
11. As a finalist or winner, you agree to give permission to the Wild West Film Festival to post credit on the WWFF website. Winners can supply one of the following: a link to a final film, a link to a trailer of the film or a jpeg of the film graphic/poster.
12. The Filmmaker is responsible for the quality and editing of their film. The Wild West Film Festival in no way edits or makes any alterations to submitted films in any way. Make sure the file you send is the file you want played. We are not responsible for any incorrect files played. The file you send us is the file we play.
13. The Wild West Film Festival has the right to reject any films submitted for violation of any rules listed.
14. The Wild West Film Festival is a film competition. We are neither a political nor an activist organization. Our diverse group of judges come from all walks of life and professional backgrounds and judge solely on merit. Any filmmaker who harasses the Wild West Film Festival, its Participants, Partners and or Judges shall be disqualified and barred from future participation at the sole discretion of the Wild West Film Festival and its representatives.
15. Any badgering of the Judges or Committee for any reason will immediately disqualify your film and bar the filmmaker from future competition.
16. Any film submitted running past the categories time limit may be disqualified.
17. Because the festival is always evolving, there will be no prior notice given on scheduling.
18. This is a film competition. Payment fee is for entering the competition only and does not entitle the submitters film to place or be screened at the festival. Not placing or not being screened at the festival does not entitle the submitter to a refund. Again, this is a competition...THER ARE NO REFUNDS!
19. Every film submitted, regardless of placing has an opportunity for a distribution deal. Submission does not guarantee distribution. Distribution is at the sole discretion of our partner company.
20. Awards are presented the day of the event. If you have not picked up your award the day of the event, please notify us via email of how you want your award to be sent to you and "Winner" will be responsible for shipping to your address. Fed Ex/UPS Postal costs for shipping, boxing, handling and insurance are approximately upwards of $50.00-$150.00 US Dollars depending on location and delivery opens desired. Awards out of United States can cost upwards of $150.00-$200.00. We can either accept a prepaid UPS or FedEx packing slip sent to our email at WildWestFF@gmail.com. We can also accept Venmo or Paypal. Additional "Westy" may be available at $598.00 per individual award. Winners must claim their award and or prizes within 60 days of the film festival ceremony date.
21. We know that there are so many excellent films that ultimately won't make the final selection process to be screened at the film festival but we still want to acknowledge these films by presenting them with Honorable Mentions Laurels so that they can proudly display on their films.
