Peter Mieras is a curious man.
In his youth, the seas and waterways that surround his Netherlands home were of particular interest to him and spending Sunday evenings watching The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau only served to heighten his curiosity. But it wasn't until
a 1982 holiday in Egypt introduced him to scuba diving that the love affair took hold. The experience left him with two certainties: he absolutely wanted to learn how to dive and he wanted to know as much as possible about this stunningly beautiful universe.
So he began to take pictures with an old Nikonos V and then moved into the realm of underwater video. He considered this medium better to document the behaviour and lives of the creatures he encountered. As his skill set grew he was hired by various companies and worked on productions from BBC, National Geographic, TV Tokyo and many others. He gets hired as an (underwater) cameraman and also provides stock footage to companies for many online and TV productions. Doing business as Subvision Productions, he also make complete video productions.
