Matheus Parizi is a Brazilian film writer and director. His films have been screened and discussed at festivals, seminars and institutions that include the Venice Film Festival | Orizzonti, Rotterdam | Tiger Shorts, Tiradentes, IndieLisboa, Havana, BFI | Experimenta, Toulouse, Cine Ceará, Aspen, Melbourne, Hong Kong, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Yale University, Instituto Moreira Salles, and the Cinemateca Uruguaia.
He is a recipient of the Núcleos Criativos Feature Film Development Fund (2016), the Prêmio Estímulo Short Film Fund Award (2015), the Brazilian Ministry of Culture's Exchange Fund (2013), awarded with the RPT2 Channel Acquisition Award (Curta Cinema 2012), and with honourable mentions from the SIGNIS Award (Havana Film Festival 2012), the Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival (2013), the Cine Tamoio (2019), and his works have been nominated for the Youtube Award (Venice Film Festival, 2012) and the Golden Firebird Award (Hong Kong Short Film Festival, 2013). He is the creator of the three-season series "No Divã do Dr. Kurtzman" (Canal Brasil, 2013-15), which he scripted and directed with Bruno Kott.
In 2019, through the invitation of MITsp - Mostra Internacional de Teatro de São Paulo, he directed, in the format of a film-essay, the commissioned work "While we talked about political performativities I occasionally stole voices and faces".
He is now post-producing his new short film, while funding his first feature film and developing a new series.
