The North Carolina Film Award has been paused in order to focus on the North Carolina Film Festival held in New Bern, North Carolina; sometime in the late Winter or early Spring

Mission
The Mission of the North Carolina Film Awards (NCFA) is to strengthen the independent film, television and video industry. While the North Carolina Film Award is NOT a live screening film festival, think Telly, the NCFA shall identify and recognize an array of talented filmmakers and their movies from across the state, region, nation and the world. Features and shorts, are welcome at the North Carolina Film Awards, bringing in the widest array of artists from different disciplines.

The North Carolina Film Award draws motion pictures and talent from around the world to North Carolina, a state recognized as one of the top movie and television producers in the United States. Our awards will identify the top achievers in their category. Every producer and director hopes to create an award-winning movie. To a worthy cadre of independent industry craftsman, It is our honor to bring these hopes to fruition.

There are three recognition tiers per category. The three recognition tiers are:

Founder’s Award – Our most prestigious award
Director’s Award – Our award for superior effort
President’s Award – Our award of distinction

The categories are:

Shorts: Drama - Shorts: Horror/Science Fiction - Shorts: Faith Based
Feature: Action/Adventure - Feature: Animation - Feature: Comedy

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for consideration:
(1) Entrants must comply with the Entry Rules & Regulations, including deadline(s) and
selected material requirements.
(2) Films must be in their complete form, no works-in-progress accepted.
(3) Non-English language works must either have English subtitles or be accompanied by dialogue lists in
both English and the original language.

STUDENT ENTRIES
Shorts - 45 minutes
Standard Deadline: Price Listed
Features - 60-120 minutes
Standard Deadline: Price Listed

SHORT FILMS VS. FEATURE FILMS

- 45 minutes or less running length is considered a SHORT
- 46 minutes up to 120 minutes is considered a FEATURE

AWARDS
Each film invited to be part of the Festival will receive a Certificate of Participation.

MULTIPLE ENTRIES
Each entered work must be accompanied by its own entry form and a separate online link. Each entry must have a separate PayPal entry fee.

SELECTION PROCESS
A panel of industry experts will screen for accepted works in each category.

NOTIFICATION OF STATUS
Applicants are responsible for ensuring their entry link and password plays correctly. If it does not play when viewed by the Judges, you will be notified of the play problem via email once only.

Applicants will be notified of their status via email early January, 2020. Please update the festival with any changes in contact information to be sure notification is received in a timely manner.
