Director Statement

As a storyteller, I'm always drawn to personal stories and taboo themes that tell something about the world we live in today. Subjects that shed a light on our darker sides and the less explored corners of society. "On Fathers" was a beautiful chance for me to connect with war refugees - parents and children alike - who try to continue life in my home country of Belgium after having fled their destroyed homes and families years ago. The stories these people tell truly humble me ... and hopefully also the viewer.
