OLYMPIC TRASH

ENG This animated/fiction short film criticizes the 2024 Paris Olympics as well as the overconsumption of our society. It is part of a series of short films that I made alone and without any budget, with two goals, to make the viewer feel new emotions and to convey messages that touch me, with a new form.

I like cinema, which is more “literary” like Tarkovsky, or more “active” like a good American blockbuster. In the latter what fascinates me is the adrenaline provoked in the spectator, not thanks to the scenario which fits on a metro ticket, but thanks to the visuals and the creativity of the staging. It is this principle that interests me for the creation of OLYMPIC TRASH and my other films. Wanting to once again address the theme of overconsumption, a subject that interests me due to its topicality and the aesthetics that it could create, I wanted to immerse the viewer in waste, by filming directly in a landfill.
Well, more precisely, a former slum in Paris where around 1000 people lived, before it was destroyed in view of the preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games.

In this film I simply want to express the importance of the background of this organization, which will obviously put the country in the spotlight and surely send a beautiful image to the whole world (if the country does not embrace itself), but will have to carry out many dirty tasks; closure of historic businesses, expulsion of students from their accommodation, homeless people evacuated from Paris, etc. to the point of destroying a village/shanty town, where until then a real society had been created.

Finally, it will be golf balls and soccer shoe cleats that will symbolically move around these living spaces.

FR Ce court métrage d’animation/fiction critique les JO 2024 de Paris ainsi que la surconsommation de notre société. Il fait partie d’une série de petits films que je réalise seul et sans aucun budget, avec deux buts, faire ressentir de nouvelles émotions chez le spectateur et faire passer des messages qui me touchent, avec une forme nouvelle.

J’aime le cinéma, qui soit plutôt “littéraire” comme du Tarkovski, ou plutôt “actif” comme un bon blockbuster américain. Dans ces derniers ce qui me fascine c’est l'adrénaline provoquée chez le spectateur, non pas grâce au scénario qui tient sur un ticket de métro, mais grâce aux visuels et à la créativité de la mise en scène. C’est ce principe qui m’intéresse pour la création de OLYMPIC TRASH et de mes autres films. Voulant traiter encore une fois le thème de la surconsommation, un sujet qui m’intéresse par son actualité et l'esthétisme que ça pourrait créer, j’ai voulu plonger le spectateur dans les déchets, en tournant directement dans une décharge.

Enfin plus exactement un ancien bidonville à Paris où vivaient environ 1000 personnes, avant qu’il soit détruit au vu de la préparation des Jeux Olympique 2024.
Dans ce film je veux simplement exprimer l’importance de l’arrière décor de cette organisation, qui va bien évidemment mettre le pays sous les projecteurs et renvoyer sûrement une belle image au monde entier (si toutefois le pays ne s’embrasse pas), mais va devoir effectuer bien de sales tâches ; fermeture de commerces historiques, expulsion d’étudiants de leur logement, SDF évacués de Paris, etc. jusqu’à en venir à détruire un village/bidonville, où jusque-là s'était créée une vraie société.

Finalement ce seront des balles de golf et crampons de chaussures de foot qui vont se déplacer symboliquement sur ces lieux de vie.
