NATURE ATTACK

ENG This animated/fictional short film is part of a series of small films that I make alone and without any budget, with two goals, to make the spectators feel new emotions and to convey messages that affect me.

I like cinema, whether it is more “literary” like Tarkovsky, Varda, or more “active” like a good American blockbuster. In the latter, what fascinates me is the adrenaline provoked in the spectator, not thanks to the scenario which fits on a metro ticket, but thanks to the visuals and the creativity of the staging. It is this principle that interests me for the creation of NATURE ATTACK and my other films.
To give something to see, to make discover to the spectator who has not yet seen, and who will therefore be able to dive into a new world for a few minutes.
In order to create this world I wanted to film in real image and give a feeling of realism by taking real insects, animals and greenery, so that we can visually touch this forest where the bird is, but facing this realism , I wanted to have a complete staging of the sets in my 16m2 in Paris, in order to control the composition, light and acting..., and sometimes be able to give the freedom to start from exaggerated stagings, to see completely unrealistic.

Each time I want to question the place of man in relation to animals, nature, and how its impact (often its consumption) will change the history of nature. In this film, through three main characters, the Bird, the Cricket and the Human, I want to depict in the manner of a fable with a moral, how a simple dustbin deposited by Man will disrupt the whole synchronization of nature.

But this theme of ecology remains secondary for me, because being Ukrainians and still having relatives in this country, I have felt for more than a year, not just a feeling of despair of Man, but also of frustration of being a student in Paris under hot showers, instead of being at the front. With this feeling in my head, I started to make this series of short films, including this one, NATURE ATTACK, which is very much inspired by the War in Ukraine.
It is not directly a complete metaphor, but from the beginning the characters of the short film were imaged and written, in a parallel of this war. The crickets represent Ukraine (and also the countries of the former Soviet bloc), the Bird represents Russia and the Man (and his consumption) represents NATO.

A metaphor that I multiply in most of my stories, and that I will continue as long as there is conflict in my country of origin.

FR Ce court métrage d’animation/fiction fait partie d’une série de petits films que je réalise seul et sans aucun budget, avec deux buts, faire ressentir de nouvelles émotions chez le spectateur et faire passer des messages qui me touchent.

J’aime le cinéma, qu’il soit plutôt “littéraire” comme du Tarkovski, ou plutôt “actif” comme un bon blockbuster américain. Dans ces derniers ce qui me fascine c’est l'adrénaline provoquée chez le spectateur, non pas grâce au scénario qui tient sur un ticket de métro, mais grâce au visuel et à la créativité de la mise en scène. C’est ce principe qui m’intéresse pour la création de NATURE ATTACK et de mes autres films.
Donner quelque chose à voir, à faire découvrir au spectateur qui n’a pas encore vu, et qui pourra donc plonger dans un nouveau monde pendant quelques minutes.
Afin de créer ce monde j’ai voulu filmer en image réelle et donner un sentiment de réalisme en prenant de vrais insectes, animaux et verdures, pour qu’on puisse toucher visuellement cette forêt où se trouve l’oiseau, mais face à ce réalisme, j'ai voulu avoir une mise en scène complète des décors dans mon 16m2 à Paris, afin de contrôler la composition, lumière et jeu d’acteurs…, et pouvoir parfois de donner la liberté de partir des mises en scènes exagérés, voir totalement irréaliste.

A chaque fois je veux interroger la place de l’homme face à l’animal, la nature, et comment son impact ( souvent sa consommation ), va changer l’histoire de la nature. Dans ce film, a travers trois personnages principaux, l'Oiseau, le Grillon et l’Humain, je veux dépeindre à la manière d’une fable à morale, comment une simple poubelle déposée par l’Homme, va dérégler toute la synchronisation de la nature.

Mais ce thème de l’écologie reste secondaire pour moi, car étant Ukrainien et ayant encore des proches dans ce pays, je ressens depuis plus d’un an, pas juste un sentiment de désespoir de l’Homme, mais aussi de frustration d’être un étudiant à Paris sous des douches chaudes, au lieu d’être sur le front. Avec ce sentiment à la tête j’ai commencé à réaliser cette série de court métrage dont fait partie celui ci, NATURE ATTACK, qui s’inspire très fortement de la Guerre en Ukraine.
Ce n’est pas directement une métaphore complète, mais depuis le début les personnages du court métrage ont été imaginés et écrits, dans un parallèle de cette guerre. Les grillons représentent l’Ukraine ( et aussi les pays de l’ancien bloc soviètiques ), l’Oiseau représente la Russie et l’Homme ( et sa consommation ) représente l’OTAN.

Une métaphore que je multiple dans la plupart de mes histoires, et que je continuerai tant qu’il y aura confit dans mon pays d’origine.
