Check our site as we get closer to October for full details.

LA Femme International Film Festival is a premier festival that focuses on platforming women filmmakers “by women, for everyone”. Our Festival was created in 2005, when it became apparent that there was a need to enhance women behind the camera as Directors, Producers, and Writers. We were the first in Los Angeles to host such an event and film festival empowering women. All those that followed are just duplicates of the movement we started over a decade ago.

Through our Partners and Sponsors we have provided one-one-one meetings with our filmmakers or helped secure financing. CBS Entertainment Diversity Department and Sony Entertainment met with a selected group of our filmmakers with the goal to offer potential employment and/or placement as a director or writer under their diversity department. It is through our direct efforts that these opportunities are being secured for our LA Femme Int. Film Festival Filmmakers.

As LA Femme moves into the next few years, it plans to expand its platform so that more women in the industry and from around the world can have the benefit of taking their film to the next level through increased distribution outlets, more key positions in the entertainment industry and more recognition as artistic creators emerging as leaders in the industry.

Our goal is to create more such opportunities through exemplary programming, networking, and panel events. A classic professional atmosphere will create a sense of ‘opportunity’ for participants. LA Femme International Film Festival is “By Women for Everyone.”

Objectives:
To continually showcase and celebrate commercially viable films Written, Directed, or Produced by women.

To opening a pathway for women entering the industry by encouraging mentor-ship and artistic sharing between those women established in the field and those just beginning.

To Platform new emerging talent and support established women in cross-over roles.

To assist in distributing the feature films that are platformed in our festival with domestic theatrical releases and home video distribution.

Mission:
La Femme International Film Festival will support and nurture the artistic entertainment productions of women for the benefit of distribution to an international and domestic audience.

Emphasis:
»Our emphasis is on providing a complete specialized festival based on showcasing and celebrating commercially successful films written, directed, or produced by women and creating a system of access for those new to the industry directly to established women industry professionals.
»To assist in distribution of these films
»To mentor other women into positions of power in the independent and big budget, studio entertainment community.

Summary:
LA Femme Film Festival is more than a festival it is an emergence of artistic, professional women who make a difference in the entertainment community by creating productions that speak to a world wide audience. We were the first festival of its kind in Beverly Hills to not only platform existing films and artists but also distribute and mentor such films and the woman artists who created them.

FYI- We do not pay screening fees to any filmmaker. It is a privilege to screen at this prestigious film festival.

Our Distribution Partner screens all the films from the festival and offers distribution deals annually to those selected to screen. In the last several years countless films were awarded a full distribution deal, while other received limited distribution. We hope to see more in the future through our additional distribution partnerships.

In addition, each winner receives a crystal award and prizes vary.

ATTENTION FILMMAKERS: If you are submitting a film we accept online screeners for the purposes of reviewing the film for consideration. If you are selected to screen in the festival, you WILL NEED to SEND a DCP copy to us of your exhibition film. This will be sent to our content partner in Los Angeles, CA who is our exhibition collection company. That information will be sent to those who are accepted into the festival. If you do not have a DCP the content manager can and will create a copy for you. There is special pricing available for those accepted who need to have a DCP generated which will be provided at time of acceptance.

MOST IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO SCREEN you must accept this invitation within 24 hours of receipt of our acceptance email.

DO NOT SUBMIT UNLESS YOU READY TO SCREEN YOUR FILM AT THIS FESTIVAL OR ANY FESTIVAL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED TO OR KNOW YOUR FILM WILL BE READY BY FESTIVAL SCREENING DATE. If you pull out of the festival once, you have accepted the invitation to screen you WILL be charged a cancelation fee. So do not submit unless you can and are willing to screen as you never know if you will be selected.

Also note you will be disqualified if you are screening in another woman's festival in LOS ANGELES during the same weekend as our festival. We want to ensure that our festival attendees are able to participate and network with our industry professionals and if your attention is split then you may not make the most of the events.

FESTIVAL FAQ:

IF SELECTED DO I NEED TO SEND A PHYSICAL COPY?
Yes!!! We DO NOT download your films , nor do we actually make copies to screen for you. This is your job as a filmmaker to have the elements prepared and sent to the festival or our representative that collects exhibition copies. It is also your job once invited to screen to get us those elements and send them to our partner office who can accept your DCP or create a DCP for you. There is a fee for this service. Do not submit unless you are a professional and understand your obligations in exhibition copies.

DO I HAVE TO SELECT THE CATEGORY I AM SUBMITTING TO?
Yes do your best to determine where it may fit. If your film is selected for the Festival, our Programming Staff will determine which program best suits the project. Make sure your application is complete. You will need to select and submit under shorts, features, screenplay, TV Pilot, commercial or music video. It is the mid length films that most filmmakers have questions regarding.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A WOMAN TO SUBMIT A FILM?
" NOT exactly as this film festival is to support and nurture the development of women in leading film positions. This means that men can participate but you will need to follow the below guidelines:

" Closing Night Gala and Awards Show is by invitation only".

" 60 to 120 minutes running length is considered a FEATURE.

" 30 seconds to 5 minutes running length is considered a Commercial/Music Video

" 15 minutes or less running length is considered a Mobisode

What a thrill to screen my first feature film BROKEN WATERS on the big screen in L.A.! The festival director Leslie is a tremendous, uplifting source of strength and encouragement for women in cinema. The networking event I attended was fun and the panel with industry specialists was informative and a great opportunity to personally ask questions. An awesome film festival experience.

Leslie, the staff, and the filmmakers were so warm, welcoming, and friendly. I gained friends because of LAFIFF . It was great that our film, Blue Room, won the Best Foreign Film in 2023 --- and it is also the "first" for the Philippines.

We have a long list of take aways from attending in person LA Femme International Film Festival. We were well prepared beforehand, thanks to clear and fun to read communications regularly sent in the weeks before the festival as to how to get the most out of the 4 days. Leslie La Page, the founder, and her team personally welcomed everybody, and the friendly atmosphere created helped conversations flow easy. We enjoyed watching the wide variety of films selected to screen all while meeting in person and listening to other filmmakers’ stories and adventures. The opportunities for networking were encouraged by attending evening events. There were 2 days of interesting themed professional panels, each one with an impressive lineup of experienced film professionals with specific skills and lots of advice to share, ending with a question-and-answer session. We, Áine and Michel from Belgium, highly recommend pitching for LA Femme International Film Festival as they celebrate their 20 years in 2024. It’s been a memorable experience and way above our expectations and thank you Leslie for your follow up e mails and yes we promise to keep in touch.
