Prerna is an award winning writer-director and co-founder of Take A Stand Films Production House who grew up in Northern Virginia always dreaming of becoming a filmmaker and telling stories related to the South Asian diaspora.
As a woman of color and a mother of two lovely daughters, social causes are especially close to her heart and she aims to create films that address issues that are relevant yet hardly spoken about in the South Asian community. Her first short film, Gudiyaa, won various awards at film festivals worldwide motivating her to continue down this path to spark conversations within families through her films.
When she’s not making films, Prerna is busy being a mom, exploring unique coffeehouses, traveling the world, writing poetry, taking pictures, all while utilizing her experience within the DoD to provide Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding services to several defense contractor firms around the US.
If our film can help even one parent accept their kids so they can be their true authentic self without the fear of being judged, we have done our job.
This is a much needed conversation if we want to drive change and acceptance.
Thanks for watching!
