Founded in partnership between Black Space Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Film Group, The Afro Prairie Film Festival is the first Black-centric film festival in the prairie region of Canada. This three day festival will celebrate Black cinema from across North America and promote the work of established and emerging Black filmmakers from right here in Canada. Participants can look forward to a weekend filled with education, workshops and a chance to explore Black narratives in filmmaking.

  • This festival is run the way all festivals should be. Executed with diligence, respect to its filmmakers, communicative and with care towards quality and artistry.

For only its second year running I cannot wait to see the growth of this festival. I predict it will be one of the leading festivals for diversity in the future.

I was honoured to have been screened among friends, colleagues and new acquaintance.

    Response from festival:

    Hello Howard,

Thank you so much for your kind words and support. We too are pleased to see the festival's growth and look forward to seeing other filmmakers such as yourself come to Winnipeg and foster the Black filmmaking community across Canada.

You're doing incredible work and C'est Moi was such an important short. We look forward to seeing more of your work in the future and hopefully you can attend the festival in person next year!

Keep up the amazing work :)
