The most senior screenplay competition to TRULY get your screenplay developed, funded, packaged, produced and distributed.

The Mammoth Pictures Screenplay Competition is an incredible and unique opportunity to get your feature screenplay optioned, developed, funded, packaged, produced and distributed, including salaried pay from the film's budget. First year winner Milad Jarmooz's THE NIGHT went on to be developed, funded and produced by Mammoth Pictures, directed by Kourosh Ahari and starring Cannes Best Actor Winner Shahab Hosseini (THE SALESMAN, A SEPARATION), and was released theatrically and on demand in over 50 countries, becoming Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. THE NIGHT now streams on Hulu in the US, HBOMax in Latin America, and is available on demand on AppleTV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play and more. In the wake of THE NIGHT's success, Grand Prize Winning screenwriter Milad Jarmooz went on to direct several episodes of the hit anthology horror series THEM in Iran.

Mammoth Pictures set out to discover and support emerging writers when we established the screenplay competition (though experienced writers are encouraged to submit). After producing THE NIGHT, the Mammoth Pictures Screenplay Competition is back to bring your screenplay to life on screen and get it seen by audiences around the world. This year we are also offering professional coverage service from an industry executive for an additional fee. Make sure to select "professional coverage" when checking out.

PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING:

Mammoth Pictures Screenplay Competition is primarily looking for feature screenplays under the genre fiction umbrella (thriller, horror, science fiction, etc.), though all genres are encouraged to submit. Slashers, campy horror and screenplays leaning too heavily on scare value will have a significantly lower chance of winning.

Though there is no limit on what you may submit, screenplays should ideally take place in limited locations with a generally smaller cast of central characters. Screenplays with strong and unique storylines, strong/distinct characters with developed arcs will stand out above the rest. Mammoth Pictures is committed to finding the strongest and freshest stories with depth and heart. We love bending the rules of reality, exploring new worlds and never before seen characters all while staying grounded.

LOGLINES AND SYNOPSES ARE A REQUIREMENT. Submit your logline and synopsis with your screenplay (synopsis should ideally be one (1) full page or longer and cover the basic premise/plot, major events, characters motivations and stakes). This can be added to the beginning or end of your screenplay PDF, or submitted as a separate PDF, but are required.

Make sure your logline and synopsis are thorough, unique, well thought out and strong. The competitions producers, directors and judges will review and rate these first before reading the entire screenplay.

The Mammoth Pictures Screenplay Competition will discover and option, develop, fund, package, produce and distribute the top screenplay from an emerging writer.

Screenwriters will have their screenplays read by top industry judges and will have the option to receive professional feedback from one of those industry judges.

GRAND PRIZE:
Your screenplay will be optioned, developed, funded, produced and distributed. The screenwriter will receive writing credit per WGA standards in the produced film and a salary from the direct cost budget.

The Grand Prize Winner will meet with Mammoth Pictures to discuss the screenplay upon winning and may be introduced to top industry judges and agencies.

Additional Awards For Top Screenplays In Each Category:
- BEST HORROR/THRILLER
- BEST PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
